The kids fell asleep sooner than the previous night. It could be because Nancy was with them and they didn't miss her like earlier.
Once they fell asleep, Nancy got off the bed quietly.
Meanwhile, Charles was sulking in his bedroom. He felt so helpless for not being able to claim his wife and lost to his children. Although there was nothing wrong, he still felt defeated by two kids.
Now there was no choice left for Charles than to wait. Time seemed to pass in a slow motion.
Charles felt immensely restless. He kept tossing and turning on the bed and waited impatiently for Nancy. A while later, the door was gently pushed open, and Nancy sneaked into the room.
Charles heard the noise and hastily sat up, looking excited.
"Nancy," he exclaimed. "Nancy!" Nancy walked forward and spoke incoherently.
"What are you still awake? And why are you so excited?" She although knew what was going on inside Charles' head, she wanted Charles to say it by himself. Even though she pretended to be calm, her heart was beating extra fast at the excitement. Charles was overtly radiating passion through his enthusiasm.
"You know it pretty well that I missed you." Charles jumped off the bed and quickly walked over to Nancy. Without giving her much time to react Charles picked her up bridal style.
"Tell me, did you miss me? Did you miss me, Nancy?" Charles softly asked. His voice was full of adoration and love.
How could Nancy not miss him?
Their lives had been filled with the fear of separating from each other in the past. They had so many complications they had to overcome together. Her heart remembered all of them.
She perfectly knew the efforts Charles put in their relation. But, Nancy was no longer the one who got carried away and fell at a loss for every little thing.
People need to grow, and the price of growing comes from the experience through hardships.
She had faced hardships. She had experienced so much that now she didn't anymore care about many little things. Nancy had always been good at hiding despite it was work or relationship.
"Do you want hear the truth or I should tell no?" said Nancy.
"That's not how a good girl should respond, Nancy. How dare you tease me?" Charles whispered into Nancy's ears before biting on her ear affectionately.
A soft moan left Nancy, "It's you who's teasing me right now. Tease me all you can, if you dare." As soon as Nancy said the words, she regretted saying them loud. Because she knew it perfectly that there were too many ways for Charles to tease her.
Wrong choice of words! But what said once couldn't be taken back. It was like spilling water which was impossible to reverse.
"Ah! Now that you have said it Nancy, that's what you're going to get. I'm really going to tease you now. You're at my mercy," Charles said satisfied with Nancy's words.
'Tm sorry. I didn't mean to say that. Charles..." Nancy tried to wiggle in his arms and exclaimed regretfully.
But Charles wasn't having it today. He was enjoying the feel of her against him so much. How could he listen to her now and let go of the golden chance? In fact, Charles found Nancy's pleas inviting.
A moment later Charles put her down and embraced her lovingly. To distract Charles, Nancy tried to switch their topic of conversation. "You haven't told me yet who else is involved in the arson case besides David," Nancy asked in a low voice, nestling closer in Charles' arms.
"I don't know yet. But David is the mastermind, that's for sure," said Charles seriously.
"I am suspecting Derrick. It's not like I hate him that's why I'm saying this, but I just think that Derrick is a narrow-minded and cruel man. If we won't teach him a lesson this time, I am afraid that he will do evil things in the future... again." This was exactly what Nancy was concerned about. She didn't care much about herself, but her children, they were vulnerable. If anything happened to them, Charles and Nancy would be under regret for the rest of their lives.
Charles however, didn't want to get Derrick involved, because even if Derrick was guilty, he couldn't do anything to Derrick for the sake of Frederic.
Even if Charles wanted to send Derrick to prison, as long as Frederic was alive, he would not let him do that.
Despite the number of crimes Derrick had committed, he was Charles' uncle and Frederic's son. Charles couldn't just overlook their blood relation. Therefore, when it came to the matter of Romantic Private Club kidnapping Nancy, Charles only thought of David and did nothing to go after Derrick. He actually avoided investigating into the case.
Now that Nancy mentioned it again, Charles rubbed between his eyebrows. "Nancy, I'm feeling tired. Let's sleep now."
