Nadia pouted and said reluctantly, "I'm not stupid."
Bobby could not help laughing, "Oh, really? You're not stupid? Then tell me, how can a wolf enter our house and take Daddy away?"
"I don't know. Maybe it's a big bad wolf that escaped from the zoo," Nadia answered seriously.
"Well, don't you think Daddy is stronger and more powerful than the big bad wolf?" Bobby retorted.
"What if he came with his pack? Won't Daddy be defeated then?" Nadia replied stubbornly.
"Oh, you are so stupid, Nadia!”
"No, I'm not!"
"Yes, you are! Can't you see that Mommy is only making that up?" "But where did Daddy go?" Holding his chin, Bobby began to think.
"Is Daddy missing?" Blinking her big eyes, Nadia sat down, looked at Bobby, and asked seriously.
Bobby sighed, "Alas, Nadia! What kind of parents do you think we have? They often disappear from our lives. Do they take us for toys? They seem to not take us seriously. Fortunately, our hearts are very strong and powerful."
"Yes, our hearts are very powerful!" Nadia said in all seriousness as she patted her chest.
"Are you done? If you're done, eat your breakfast. After breakfast, I'll drive you to school." Nancy came over and gave them bread. "Eat it quickly."
When Bobby and Nadia saw the dark bread, they immediately craned their necks and said, "Mommy..." "What's wrong?" Nancy asked, holding a bowl of porridge.
"Why is the bread black?" The two children spoke almost at the same time.
"Because it's toasted bread. It should be black, not white," Nancy answered, her bad mood starting to get the best of her.
"Of course toasted bread can't be white, but it's definitely not black. Mommy, did you burn the bread? Haven't you seen Daddy's toasted bread?” Bobby hesitated for a while with the bread in his hand. He still could not find it in himself to eat it.
It did not look good, so he was sure that it would not taste good.
"Yes, your daddy is good at cooking, but kids, you have to understand the reality now. Your daddy hasn't come home, so you two either eat what I give you or I will drive you to school with empty stomachs right now. You choose," Nancy said expressionlessly. She put down the bowl of porridge and pushed it away.
Bobby and Nadia looked at each other. Their mother had always been gentle. Why was she acting so foul and unreasonable today?
And her voice was not pleasant at all.
"What's wrong with Mommy?" Nadia asked curiously.
"Nadia, let me tell you. Mommy is in menopause. She can't control her emotions. It's terrible. We'd better not talk," Bobby whispered.
"Menopause?" Nadia's mouth twitched nervously. She reached out her little hand to grab the bowl of porridge and said, "Mommy, I want to eat some porridge. I'm a good girl."
Bobby rolled his eyes and said, "You're such a traitor. Okay, Mommy, I'll have some porridge, too."
"All right. Hurry up. We're leaving after you finish eating. " As Nancy spoke, she took a bite of the burnt bread.
Bobby and Nadia looked up at her at the same time.
Nancy chewed again and again.
But what was the taste of the bread? It was horrible and hard, and there was no fragrance to it at all.
Just when Bobby and Nadia thought that Nancy would swallow the bread, Nancy covered her mouth and ran to the bathroom.
Nadia chuckled and said in a low voice, "Mommy also thinks the black bread is not delicious."
"No one can eat burnt food. Now I'm curious about where Daddy is," Bobby whispered.
"I don't know." Nadia shook her head.
"Mommy doesn't seem to know either," Bobby continued.
