The Almighty Dragon General novel Chapter 1940

Chapter 1940

Sure enough, after he mentioned these, Maxine's expression softened considerably.

James began coaxing Maxine to speak. He started to ask about his child.

"Maxine, did Thea come to you? Did Thea suspect that there was something going on between us so you two got into a fight, and that’s why you took the child?" James asked tentatively.

"No." Maxine shook her head.

"So why did you?" James inquired, perplexed. "We seemed to have a close relationship. We endured hardships together. We've become friends through adversity. Why did you kidnap my child?"

"What do you think?” Maxine looked at James with a smile.

James had been trying to figure out what Maxine was thinking. He had already guessed. However, he did not reveal it.

"Maxine, I really don't know. I've always thought of you as my little sister. Why are you doing this?”

"Little sister?" Maxine sneered. “Don't play dumb, James. You know what I'm thinking. I gave up so much to help you, but all I got in return was a thank you. I don't need your thanks."

"Then what do you want?” James asked sternly.

"The same as I said before. Kill Thea. If she lives, the child will not."

Maxine was unyielding. Her current self was entirely different from before. Sheresembled a demon, eager to take the lives of others whenever she pleased.

"But I really have no idea where Thea is," James said exasperatedly.

When Maxine heard that, she started to get lost in her thoughts.

‘Where is Thea? Where did she go?’ she pondered.

She also began to reflect on what James had said. She wondered if James and Thea really did have a falling out.
