She should have known that a piece of trash would not be capable of summoning the army time and again. “What should we do now?“David said in exasperation, “He was so nice to you. Now that you‘ve driven him away, what should we do?”

“Thea, why don‘t you head to the Southern Plains?” Gladys suggested. “Since James loves you so much, he‘ll be moved if you go all the way there. Then, you two will be together again.”
