The Alpha's Runaway Luna novel Chapter 4

“I can’t believe you are doing this to me! Let’s see what Dad will say once he knew you kidnapped me you moron,” I snarled at him and but he seemed unbothered at all.

Instead, he closed the gap between us and looked into my eyes. I made sure he could see the pure hatred in me, but his intense gaze made me nervous. I could smell him so fine, so amazing… it reminded me of the fresh lavender field with the touch of earthy, refreshing scent of morning dew. I had to suppress myself from closing my eyes and sniffing at him.

“We both know that you can’t do that, Giselle. You are too afraid to go back to your Dad and because you are too stubborn to go back to the Sidney manor, then I have to keep you here just to make sure you are safe,” he uttered, and then his eyes went down to my stomach, “And that… thing.”

That thing.

Those words cut my heart like hot knives and tears of anger started to brim in my eyes, “How dare you, Caden Einsworth! I want you to take me back to the city before I call the authorities,” I hissed at him threateningly between my teeth.

The arrogant grin on his face disappeared and his eyes glinted red, which almost made me gasp. I never saw Caden get so angry before but there was no way I would let him humiliate me like this. He couldn’t make me stay in his manor like a prisoner.

“You have no choice, Giselle. It’s either you stay here or you will go back to your father. You choose.” he answered me also with a threat.

I glared at him. I knew he was just doing it for the baby. “I hate you, Caden.” I hissed at him.

“You can hiss all you want, Giselle. But you are now inside my territory and that means you will do whatever I say. Welcome to Highridge Pack.” he grinned at me mischievously and then signaled their head maid to accompany me to my new bedroom and left.

My knees weakened as soon as he was gone. I had no idea what I was even doing. I never wanted to see Caden or even have him around me. I started to panic inside while walking behind the headmaid. She was not a talkative person though. A woman in her late forties wearing eyeglasses. She had that strict look on her face. She didn’t even mention her name after she showed me my new room and then left me there like I was some kind of trash that their master picked up in a random place.

I couldn’t blame her though. They didn’t know anything about me and I had no intention to tell any of them that I was the daughter of the second most powerful Alpha in this region. Only I left my father and the pack to save my family from a huge scandal I had with the Alpha of this Manor.

Will Caden be able to hide everything from my family?

I had no idea what his plans were. And it scares me…

I didn’t sleep well last night.

The new surroundings, the new scent of the things around the room, and the new scenery made me a little wary and uncomfortable. After living in cheap apartments for over a month, I got a little used to the smell of old wooden furniture. The noise of the busy street outside and the yelling neighbors.

Everything here was perfect. The room was painted white. There were beautiful sheer curtains hanging on the huge windows and all I could hear was the noise coming from the sea birds flying outside the Manor. I didn’t know what to expect in this place but there was no way I would let Caden decide things for me even if it meant I was under his and his pack’s care.

I looked down on the white crumpled blanket and closed my eyes.

That night…I still couldn’t get it out of my head no matter how much I convinced myself it was all a huge mistake. But why was it so beautiful in my memory? Why did it feel like an exquisite dream instead of a nightmare?

A few knock on the door almost made me jump and a maid entered my room with an anxious look on her small face. She uttered nervously, “Uhm, Ma’am, your breakfast is ready in the dining hall with the Alpha. He is already waiting for you. Do you need my help to get you prepared?”

“He’s waiting for me?” I asked, a little disoriented because I never thought Caden had no time to deal with my mood swings, “In the dining hall?”
