His word was mumbled against my skin. “Why?”
His rough tone dripped with accusation, and his movements were still.
I knew what he was asking-why I’d been with Jackson. What I didn’t know was why he cared. He’d never liked me; all I’d ever been was a substitute until his true mate came back, until he

Perhaps it was because he was drunk that he couldn’t help touching me.
