The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 1083

"Got it," Katelin replied instinctively, then paused as realization dawned on her. "Who told you about Isaac?"

"He was my husband; it's only right I should know," Brittany answered honestly. "Everyone seems to skirt around the topic, but I found out. Grandma, do you know him?"

Katelin met Brittany's gaze, a distant memory surfacing. After a moment that felt like surrender, she said, "Let's go sit in the gazebo."

Understanding that the old lady had stories to share, Brittany helped her towards the gazebo, which was furnished with stone benches that were cold to the touch.

Brittany took off her jacket, placing it on the bench for her grandmother to sit on, then took a seat opposite her.

"Zac, I've watched him grow up," she began, recounting Isaac's life story. Losing his mother at a young age, abandoned by his father. Raised by his grandmother, he took over the family business, making a name for himself. Their whirlwind marriage, gradually filled with love and the birth of Daniel. Five years apart, squandering his fortune to win her back, only to be separated again by a tragic accident.

"Bri, you forgot everything that happened before. We didn't tell you the truth because we didn't want to upset you," Katelin consoled. "He's gone now, and you need to start a new life."

Brittany wanted to argue that he wasn't gone but fearing it might bring trouble to Isaac, she simply nodded, "Grandma, I know."

As the conversation ventured into other topics and evening approached, a servant came to urge Katelin to rest, ending their discussion.

Brittany ended up staying the night at the Bishop family residence, where a room decorated to her tastes awaited her. After a bath, the thoughts of her grandmother's words made it impossible to rest. She decided to call Isaac.

A woman's voice answered the phone, "Who's this?"

Looking for Isaac, Brittany's heart sank as the woman on the line giggled incessantly, irritation clear in her voice.

Brittany hung up, emotions swirling inside her like a storm.

...

Emerging from the shower, Isaac noticed his assistant with his phone and quickly snatched it back, "Who gave you permission to touch my phone?"

"Caspian," the assistant replied, a stark contrast to her earlier confidence, explaining she was just trying to help.

Isaac dismissed her with a wave, his frustration evident. If it weren't for Elijah's insistence, this assistant would have been long gone for her incompetence and meddling.

As she left, Isaac checked his phone, pausing at Brittany's missed call. It was rare for her to reach out, sparking a hope that maybe she missed him. With a softer expression, he dialed back, only to be met with a voicemail.

"Hello, the person you are trying to reach is not available. Please try again later."
