"Wait a minute!"
Yuri stopped Piper in her tracks. "Ms. Walker, Bri's room is a bit of a personal sanctuary. Please, tread carefully."
Piper, relentless in her pursuit, countered, "Mr. Lynette, I've known Ms. Lynette for some time now. Don't I have the right to go up and see her?"
"It's late, and I'm just worried about disturbing Bri's rest."
Yuri stood his ground. "Eltham, you know Bri hasn't been feeling well lately. I've already sent the butler to knock on her door. If Ms. Walker ends up disturbing Bri, it won't be a small matter."
Piper was about to retort.
"Piper, I just called Bri. She's changing her clothes," Eltham interjected, frowning at Piper's eagerness. "She hasn't been in the best of health lately. Let's just wait, okay?"
Piper squinted suspiciously. "Mr. Lynette, since you've put it that way, we'll wait downstairs."
"But is Ms. Lynette really at home?"
She suspected Brittany might have sneaked out for a secret rendezvous with her underground boyfriend.
"Ms. Walker, watch your words!"
Yuri's voice thundered with anger. "My daughter has always been dignified and respectful. She would never do anything to tarnish her reputation. Don't let me hear such accusations again!"
Piper was effectively silenced, not daring to speak further.
Yuri brewed a pot of coffee, settling down with Eltham and the group in the living room. They had some wine, and the staff prepared a special hangover soup.
"Truly sorry about this."
Eltham felt a bit guilty for intruding so late, but his friends were eager to meet Brittany.
"No worries."
Yuri was slightly displeased but didn't show it.
After having the hangover soup and just when they were about to ask again, a figure slowly descended the stairs.
"Bri."
Brittany, in a sleek grey sweater paired with black jeans, looked effortlessly elegant and slender.
