A pair of eyes shimmering like the ocean waves, Ronald felt a shiver run through his body, suddenly waking from a dream.
Sweat trickled down his spine.
A strange feeling echoed in his chest.
He reached out, irritated yet somewhat helpless.
Was a dream really that powerful?
Over the years abroad, mingling with the Malones, he had met many people, including some very impressive women.
But with them, aside from respect, he never harbored any improper thoughts.
Except when it came to Kari.
He rubbed his face hard, got out of bed, and walked into the bathroom.
After a cold shower to wash away the sweat, Ronald felt thirsty and went to the kitchen for a glass of water. Mid-drink, he remembered the Malone's grand dinner.
He hadn’t attended.
There would be complaints, for sure!
Back in his room, Ronald checked his phone to find a string of missed calls.
He deleted them all, pretending he hadn't seen any.
That dream had utterly banished sleep for the night.
He spent the night sorting through work, even canceled a negotiation set for the next day, deciding instead to accompany Willa for her hospital check-up.
At six in the morning, Ronald went for a run.
On his way back, he picked up breakfast.
Willa had just woken up, surprised: “Ronald, you’re up early?”
“Willa, I got us breakfast. Eat up, we’ll head to the hospital soon for your check-up.”
Willa beamed: “You’re so busy with work, I could go alone.”
She didn’t want to disrupt Ronald’s hectic schedule.
“Your health is more important, Willa.”
