When Loraine heard about this, her face instantly changed. "There's nothing between her and me that needs discussing."
"Ms. Field, I want to apologize for my sister; I hope you accept it."
Patrina spoke in a gentle voice, looking truly remorseful, which made Finn feel a pang in his heart.
Why was it Patty who had to apologize when it was Brittany who had messed everything up?
Loraine frowned. "This has nothing to do with you. I'm not going to pick a fight with the Dustin family."
Patrina watched Loraine leave, her eyes full of anxiety: "Finn, should I not have brought my sister here? If Ms. Field is unfriendly to her,"
"Then she deserves it!"
Finn wrapped his arms around her waist and said, "Patty, you're too kind. Whatever happens tonight, it's all Brittany's own doing!"
Patrina leaned into his arms, a glimmer in her eyes.
Back in her bedroom on the second floor, Sydney was already waiting for her: "Loraine."
Loraine greeted her back: "You're here."
"Loraine, do you still have feelings for Zac?" Sydney asked gently, holding onto her arm.
Loraine hesitated. How could she not have feelings for him?
Isaac was the best man she had ever met. What happened three years ago had always weighed on her heart.
"Loraine, I heard recently that Zac got married."
Loraine's face changed instantly. "Married?"
How could she not know anything about this? Who was the bride? Was she an upper-class lady, or just a marriage of convenience?
"Yes, she is a notorious person, but it seems like Isaac is unaware."
Sydney was certain that Isaac had no idea about Brittany; otherwise, how could he marry her?
"You're saying Zac was deceived?"
Loraine found it hard to believe. Isaac was so intelligent; how could he be deceived?
Sydney looked troubled: "My cousin married Brittany, who once plagiarized your work, and somehow won his favor. He probably doesn't know Brittany's true colors, or else how could he marry someone like her? Loraine, you've been friends with my cousin for many years. You can't just sit by and watch him be deceived."
Loraine hadn't expected two people to bring up Brittany today. Plagiarism, marrying Isaac—both these things had her on edge!
Seeing her silent, Sydney decided to add fuel to the fire.
"Furthermore, I heard Brittany married Isaac because she was kicked out of the Dustin family.Isaac probably doesn't know her real situation; he's likely been tricked."
Sydney sighed, and at that moment Loraine turned to her and said, "Sydney, thank you for telling me all this."
Sydney thought she had fallen for it: "Loraine, you and Isaac have grown up together; you can't just stand by and let him be deceived."
"Zac is an adult. He should be aware of his own actions; we're just outsiders."
Loraine wasn't a fool; how could she not see Sydney's intentions?
She did want to make up with Isaac, but she didn't have to be the bad guy. Since he had married Brittany, as long as he knew Brittany's true colors, everything would clear up.
"I'm not getting involved in your business with Brittany."
Loraine picked up her skirt and left. Sydney hadn't expected her to refuse. She quickly spun around and went back to the banquet.
When Brittany and Hannah stepped into the Field family's home, it immediately caused a stir.
"Isn't that Brittany? She once plagiarized Loraine's work; how could she dare to show up here?"
"I don't know! I heard she was kicked out of the Dustin family long ago."
"What a publicity hound!"
Sydney feigned concern and asked loudly, "Brittany, you really showed up? This is the Field family's place. You once plagiarized Loraine's work; how dare you show your face here?"
