All the guests thought Loraine was a real sweetheart. In contrast, they felt Brittany's attitude was a bit prickly, making the once harmonious atmosphere kinda awkward.
Hannah knew what Loraine was up to, and just as she was about to defend Brittany, Brittany surprisingly took her advice, "Alright, if Ms. Field says so, I'll apologize."
Brittany picked up her wine glass, raising her hand to catch everyone's attention. She loudly said, "Mrs. Ramsey, I was out of line."
Mrs. Ramsey tilted her chin up proudly, as if accepting her apology. But the real drama was just about to kick off.
Brittany continued, "Even if Ms. Ramsey was the one who provoked me, I shouldn't have hit back. After all, Ms. Ramsey might've done it unintentionally. I shouldn't have argued with Mrs. Ramsey either, as she's my senior. It's all on me."
Hearing this, all the guests looked like they'd been struck by lightning. Sydney was the one who started the feud, but Mrs. Ramsey was protecting her and forcing Brittany to apologize. Clearly, they were ganging up on Brittany.
Only then did Mrs. Ramsey realize she'd been played. Her face changed rapidly.
"I'm sorry for what I said earlier. Please forgive me." Brittany raised her glass, downing the drink in one gulp.
The strong liquor burned her throat, making her eyes water. She coughed on purpose a few times.
Hannah immediately held her up, glaring at Mrs. Ramsey, "Mrs. Ramsey, you can't control your own daughter, yet you still bully others! Brittany is all alone, but don't forget the Chester family isn't one to be messed with. You remember that, Mrs. Ramsey, your family still has a business deal with us!"
Mrs. Ramsey felt a chill down her spine. She was aware that their families were negotiating a deal. If this incident caused the deal to fall through, she would be the one to take the blame. She clenched her teeth, then turned to Sydney, "Apologize."
"But mom!" Sydney was far from willing to apologize.
Mrs. Ramsey glared at her. After a while, Sydney reluctantly muttered a sorry.
Brittany pretended not to hear, and under Mrs. Ramsey's pressure, Sydney shouted, "Brittany, I'm sorry!"
"Happy now?" Sydney was fuming,. She couldn't stand it anymore, waved her hand and left.
Mrs. Ramsey also quietly left the crowd.
Hannah took the opportunity to help Brittany out of there, while Loraine bit her lip in frustration at not being able to see Brittany's embarrassment. But she quickly composed herself and plunged back into the social whirl.
