"I know, I know."
He understood that. How could Isaac possibly be forcing Brittany then?
Seeing Isaac in that state, Emily couldn't help but think back to the events of five years prior.
When Brittany had just left, Isaac was working day and night, dropping nearly 30 pounds in just a month. He was like a robot that had its life sucked out of it. Emily had thought that Isaac wouldn't make it.
Grace Salter tried a bunch of things, but nothing could pull him back.
Thinking about that time, Emily couldn't help but feel for Isaac.
After Emily left, Isaac went upstairs, finished cleaning himself up, and opened his wardrobe. Inside were clothes that Brittany had worn before.
Over the years, his room had always kept Brittany's scent. He reached out, picked up a piece of clothing, and held it close, as if he could still feel Brittany's presence.
The next morning.
Before Isaac had even gotten up, Daniel climbed onto his bed, his small hands patting Isaac's face, "Dad, wake up!"
Isaac opened his eyes, and Daniel in his arms spoke urgently, "Quick, we have to find Mom!"
Looking into his sparkling eyes, a vein popped in Isaac's forehead.
Despite being his own son, Isaac didn't hit him.
He put Daniel on the bed and then got up himself.
Daniel was eager to see Brittany and kept pushing him to go. Half an hour later, the father and son were on their way to the airport.
It was Daniel's first time leaving Imperial City, and he couldn't hide his excitement.
He was wearing a little black suit and looked very dashing, holding a small backpack in his hands. Isaac tried to take it for him, but he wouldn't allow it.
Holding it like a treasure, he shook his head and said, "Dad, this is a gift for my mom. You can't touch it!"
Isaac raised an eyebrow, "All these years, and you've never given me a gift?"
Daniel was stumped by the question. After a while, he said, "Being there is the greatest confession of love. Isn't being with you every day the best gift?"
Isaac couldn't help but chuckle.
Daniel's legs were kicking excitedly.
