The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 69

And then it’s a sudden tumble.

Brittany fell off the couch, sucking in a breath from the pain. She managed to pick herself up, grabbed her phone, and put it to her ear.

"Bri, don't forget to head out early for the reunion this afternoon."

Hannah's voice was filled with an unspoken excitement.

"Sure, got it,"

Brittany hung up the phone. She rubbed her knee, standing up only to realize Isaac hadn't come home all night.

She took a shower, had breakfast, and sent a message to Isaac.

No response. She went to the studio, worked until noon, had lunch, and then headed to the restaurant in the afternoon.

Isaac had nothing to do in the morning, so he had breakfast with his granny and helped her water the plants and exercise.

Seeing he had no intention to leave, Grace couldn't help but speak out.

"You didn't come home last night. Are you not worried about Bri being alone at home?"

Newlywed Isaac should be spending time with his wife, not with his old granny at home. What was the deal?

Isaac pulled out his phone from his pocket. The screen was dark.

It was out of battery.

After he went upstairs, Grace shook her head, saying, "Zac still hasn't opened up and didn’t go back home all night. Bri must be very worried."

Back in his room, Isaac found a charger and restarted his phone.

There were a ton of messages on WhatsApp. The first he saw were from Brittany.

He opened them.

[Zakky, are you coming home tonight?]

[It's eleven, still not done?]

[Working overtime?]

[Good morning, you didn't come home last night. Did something happen?]

The latest one was sent at eight in the morning.

Seeing the flood of messages, Isaac felt a weird twinge in his heart, as if something broke free.

Ever since his mother passed away, no one had cared about his whereabouts.

He had gotten used to the solitude, but Brittany seemed to genuinely treat him as her husband. This long-lost concern was hard to handle.

After hesitating for a moment, he replied: [Sorry, I went home to be with my granny last night. My phone died. Just saw your messages.]
