Chapter 870
Halfway through the meal, the server brought over a trio of desserts.
“Excuse me, I don’t think we ordered these.”
Daniel, just like Isaac, also had quite the sweet tooth. His love for sweets had led to cavities and some painful dentist visits not so long ago.
Brittany had gone out of her way to help him kick the habit.
“They’re from that lady over by the window,” the server explained, pointing discreetly.
“Ms. Hana,” Daniel’s eyes lit up with recognition as he spotted Hana, unable to hide his. surprise.
This was the second time Brittany had heard Daniel mention that name.
“Thank you,” Brittany dismissed the server and turned to Daniel. “This Ms. Hana, is she new around here?”
“No, she’s been at the school for a while.”
Brittany recalled that Daniel’s previous teacher wasn’t Hana.
“But Ms. Hana is a recent transfer.’
Brittany couldn’t shake the feeling that she was overthinking things.
After all, it wasn’t uncommon for teachers to treat their students to a little something sweet. That didn’t mean Hana had an ulterior motive, did it?
After finishing their meal, they approached the cash register to settle the bill and bumped into Hana.
“Mr. Salter, Ms. Dustin, good evening,” Hana greeted them with a demure charm that
suited her delicate features.
Daniel obediently called out, “Ms. Hana.”
Isaac, usually cool towards the opposite sex, gave a mere nod of acknowledgement.
But Brittany stepped forward. “Ms. Hana, thank you for the desserts earlier.”
“Ms. Dustin, I noticed that Daniel enjoyed them, so I took the liberty of ordering. I hope you and Mr. Salter don’t mind?”
Brittany glanced at Daniel, who was conspicuously avoiding her gaze. He had a notorious weakness for sweets.
He’d been so restless on his sugar-free days that even Brittany couldn’t console him. Just when she thought he’d kicked the habit, it turned out someone was secretly supplying him

with sugar.
Brittany’s demeanor cooled. “Ms. Hana, I appreciate the gesture. To thank you for looking after him, tonight’s dinner is on me.”
With that, Brittany swiped her card and left. Daniel realized he was in trouble and followed quickly, with Isaac trailing behind.
Hana was taken aback by Brittany’s strictness. What harm was there in a child enjoying a sweet treat? No wonder Mr. Salter and she were divorced; she was too controlling!
Back at home, Brittany went about her evening routine, while Daniel hesitated before cautiously opening her door.
“Mommy, are you mad?”
Brittany replied with a classic line, “Of course not, why would I be mad?”
Daniel knew that wasn’t a good sign; it was just like the TV dramas when couples fought.
Approaching Brittany, he looked up with a mix of guilt and defiance. “I’m sorry.”
Brittany’s heart softened as she looked at her son’s drooping head, but she wanted to make things clear.
“How many sweets have you had?”
