Chapter 898
Xavier was well aware of Brittany’s existence and quite fond of her. “Did she come back alone?”
“No, with her newlywed husband.”
Ysabel kept it simple, and Xavier didn’t
press
further.
“The Lynettes have been getting restless lately, Xavier sighed. “They’re on about finding a daughter they lost nearly thirty years ago.”
Lost for thirty years in such a vast world, where do you even begin to search?
Ysabel wasn’t interested. “Let’s just watch the Lynette saga unfold from the sidelines. No need to get our hands dirty.”
Xavier’s family was well-established in Craneville and had numerous dealings with the Lynettes. With the Lynettes stirring up such drama, it was bound to affect their business partners.
“I’m aware.”
The Lynettes’ public search for their lost daughter soon became the talk of the town and even made headlines.
The whole social circle was abuzz with the news.
It was said that the current head of the Lynettes, Yuri Lynette, had a sweetheart in his youth. Due to the vast gap in their family standings, they had to part ways.
Yuri went on to marry Leila, as arranged by his family. Their relationship was notoriously bad, with rumors that in over thirty years of marriage, they had never consummated it.
To secure her status, Leila adopted twins- a boy and a girl- who were groomed from a young age. Among the Lynette offspring, they stood out, especially the brother, Holden Lynette.
Within just three years, he transformed a nearly bankrupt subsidiary of the Lynettes into a thriving business, earning him a place on the global billionaires list.
Holden was rumored to be groomed to be the heir, although the Lynettes remained silent
on the matter.
However, six months ago, Yuri found out that his old flame had been pregnant when they parted ways and had given birth to a daughter for him. Sadly, the mother had passed
away years ago.
Yuri was beside himself and immediately rallied the Lynettes to start searching for this

long-lost daughter.
Inside the grand study of the Lynette Mansion, Knox Lynette looked grim. “We’ve been searching for so long and still nothing?”
“Grandfather, we’re doing our best,” replied Holden, who was juggling company matters alongside the search for the true heiress, leaving him spread quite thin.
Yuri, seated across the room, looked well for his age, except for a few wrinkles at the corners of his eyes, belying the years he had seen.
“By the end of the year, I want to know her whereabouts,” he demanded.
“Yes.”
With that, Holden exited the study.
Outside, a slender figure had been waiting for some time. Seeing him emerge, she quickly approached.
“Holden, are you alright?” Holden’s sister, Saskia Lynette, looked at him with concern.
“Grandpa was just checking on my progress.” Holden answered truthfully.
Saskia bit her lip and lowered her voice, “Why is Dad so set on finding that daughter all of
a sudden?”
Despite their years of loyalty to the Lynettes, could they really be surpassed by a stranger? Holden’s eyes hardened. “Saskia!”
She knew she had misspoken. “I’m sorry.”
“The Lynettes took us in and have been more than gracious. We owe them our loyalty.”
Holden understood her fear that the true heiress would return and claim their inheritance but they had never been true Lynettes to begin with-they were the interlopers.
“I don’t want to hear such talk again.”
Saskia’s eyes reddened. “I understand.”
