"Why don't you call off the divorce? We can make up, just like old times," Joey begged, seizing the moment. "Gianna, I messed up. I was so stupid to hurt you. I totally screwed up."

Gianna shook her head. "The two things are unrelated. Our divorce is between us. Joey, our marriage is over, but you can't kill yourself over it. Think of your parents. They raised you. Can you bear to cause them this pain?"
