Aurelia whispered, "I wanted to tell the truth, but William wouldn't have it. He can't stand the thought of being torn from Arnold. With Leopold's temper, once he finds out the identity of William, he'd never let him stay with Arnold."
Jolin said, "You've got to handle this right, no matter what. You and Leopold have been on and off so many times, try not to stir up another storm."
Aurelia nodded slightly, "I know, Mom. Don't worry about me."
The next day, Avery returned from shooting a reality TV show and went over to Arnold's place, keeping him company with a few drinks.
Arnold was in a real slump, knocking back one drink after another. Only the sharp bite of alcohol could numb the ache in his heart for a while.
He had lost Aurelia, the only woman he had ever truly loved.
"I filed for divorce with Lisa this morning. I was such a fool for not doing it sooner," he lamented.
Aurelia had fallen for him first, yet he had let her slip through his fingers, botching a winning hand.
Avery patted him on the shoulder, comforting, "My sister married Leopold again for Kane's sake. She said the only way to keep Kane safe was to bring him back to the Stirling family. Leopold is fickle and quick to turn cold. Who knows how long he'll stay sweet on Aurelia this time."
Arnold tightened his grip around his glass, "If Leopold ever treats her wrong, I'll whisk her away in a heartbeat."
He would never give up on Aurelia, even if she remarried Leopold. He'd always be there, guarding her.
Avery said, "You and Aurelia can't be completely apart, you've got William together."
Arnold believed that he still had a place in Aurelia. Otherwise, she wouldn't have left William with him.
Leopold had already taken Aurelia from him and he wouldn't let him take William too.
