"Seriously, this kind of silent killing gadget is right up an assassin's alley. I bet they hoard them like crazy, which explains why Geoffrey had one," Beverley remarked, curling her lip in distaste.

Skyler started to play some tunes while Beverley jotted down notes on a music sheet beside him. They'd listen for a bit before pausing the track, making sure they weren't swayed by the rhythm or melody.

"This music is just painful to the ears," Beverley complained, clicking her tongue in annoyance.

"That's probably why it could drive someone to off themselves," Skyler pointed out, "Don't underestimate the power of a good melody. It can save souls or end them."

After hours of effort, they finally managed to transcribe the score.

"Aunt Beverley, take a look at this. Notice anything off about the score?" Kane asked.

"Well, aside from the unusual leaps between octaves, I can't say anything jumps out at me," Beverley admitted, "Maybe Geoffrey is just playing us for fools?"

"I knew it. The guy's a born liar, and you can't trust a word he says," Skyler puffed out her cheeks in frustration.

"Maybe we're just missing something. No worries, and we'll figure it out," Kane reassured her.

Emerging from the study, William headed to the kitchen for a snack.

Leopold strolled in, "William, I'm whipping up a beef stew for your mom. You want some?" He asked casually.

William shook his head, "Your stew doesn't hold a candle to Dad's."

Leopold was momentarily speechless, chastising himself for even asking. William's mouth sure couldn't spit out anything sweet.

"Your mom prefers my stew," he countered.

William stuck out his tongue, making a face, "Only because Dad's not around."

Leopold reached out, pinching William's cheek. As his fingers touched the skin, he felt a jolt.
