Nina nodded, her eyes wide with a mix of excitement and concern, "It looks like he didn't move on to his next life, and he's been secretly following us. We can't harm him with our oak wands, and we need to tell Uncle Leopold and Aunt Aurelia. They'd be thrilled to see Liam again."
William interjected quickly, "We don't have all the facts yet. How about we try to summon him tonight and get some answers first? If we run to the adults now, they'll think we're just pulling some prank."
Beverley agreed, "William's got a point. Tonight, we'll call him out and clear things up."
Back in the study, she whipped out her phone and started scouring online forums for the proper way to summon a spirit at midnight.
Despite the late hour, none of the kids felt a hint of sleepiness, their anticipation keeping them wide awake.
Nina was busy getting some candles, planning to burn them for their little cousin Liam, just like they did on TV shows.
Mira was assembling a toy car, "If Liam knew I made him a car, he'd be so happy."
William couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. Ever since they suspected the little ghost was Liam, the fear had vanished, and with it, the fun. But then again, the little ghost was indeed Liam, since it was him all along.
Skyler glanced at William and whispered so softly it was almost inaudible, "What if we don't call Liam over but instead attract some other spirit?"
William coughed uncomfortably at the thought.
"There aren't supposed to be ghosts at Mossy Rock Retreat, right?"
"It's an old estate, who knows what's lurking there," Skyler said with a playful stick of her tongue.
William shivered. He liked thrilling games, sure, but the idea of actually summoning a ghost was not what he had in mind.
"If a real ghost shows up, we'll just use our oak wands on it."
"Right," Skyler nodded, convinced that the old lore still held some power, just in case.
