Darcy snorted, "Our 'Destiny' hasn't hit the market yet, so who wins or loses is still up in the air. Don't count your chickens before they're hatched."
Emma chuckled dismissively, making a scornful gesture, "Our 'Eternal Love' series will blow your game out of the water, no doubt about it."
"The one who laughs last, laughs best," Jenny chimed in.
With the pressure building in Aurelia's chest, she remained calm, offering a serene smile, "The substantial sales of the 'Eternal Love' series is worth celebrating. I hope 'Destiny' can match up to 'Eternal Love' and create a win-win situation for our company."
"Boss, you are right," Darcy clapped, turning to Emma, "Do you know why you haven't been promoted to a manager despite your years in the department? Your vision is too narrow."
That hit a nerve with Emma, who pouted in anger
"Soon, the position of the manager would be mine." Emma thought.
Evelyn promised her, once Aurelia was out of the picture, she would get the promotion. By then, all those who opposed her would have to pack up and leave.
A cold glint flashed in Evelyn's eyes, she bared her teeth in a forced smile, "Manager Aurelia is right, we are all part of the same department, and we should get along. How about I treat everyone to sushi for lunch to celebrate our 'Eternal Love' series being the top-seller this month?"
Emma quickly showed her sycophantic side, "Thank you Ms. Evelyn. How can a great vision work if you don't have a generous leader who cares for her subordinates?"
Aurelia didn't bother with her, she took out her phone and sent a message in the WhatsApp group:
[Let's not go out and fuss, let's just have a steak feast in our company's steakhouse. The steak in our employee canteen is no less than Michelin rated, Mr. Leopold himself has approved it.]
[Agreed, I've eaten there once, it was delicious, Jesper and some guys eat there all the time.] Darcy chimed in.
Everyone else joined in with thumbs up and agreements.
…
At lunch, they went to the steakhouse, and Aurelia ordered two sirloin steak meals and three filet mignon meals. The five of them found a round table and sat down.
