After an extended silence, she answered simply, "I'm out for dinner, will be back when I'm done."
The truth was she didn't want to return home. She didn't like the scent of Evelyn on him.
There's nothing sadder for a woman than being married to a man who doesn’t love her.
She consoled herself with the thought that her predicament was temporary, only three more months to endure.
After dinner, Arnold took her for a drive around the Royal Emerald Resort.
The car window was slightly open, letting in the cool night breeze. It tousled his hair, giving him a rugged, handsome look.
Aurelia couldn't help but admire him. Apart from Leopold, he was the most handsome man she had ever seen. No wonder he was the apple of every supermodel's eye, they were all hopelessly in love with him.
When the car stopped at an intersection, Arnold turned to her and asked, "Are you cold? Should I close the window?"
"No need," she shook her head, "a little breeze is nice."
Arnold gave her a warm smile, "Next time, I'll take you somewhere where you can actually see the stars."
She returned the smile, "Speaking of stars, I remember the night sky in Willowbrook. It was the most beautiful sight I've ever seen."
Arnold reached out and gently brushed a loose strand of hair from her face. "Stargazing is something to be shared with someone you like... or a good friend. It's only then that you can truly appreciate the beauty of the night sky. Stargazing alone…" he trailed off, his gaze lost somewhere in the distance.
Aurelia caught the subtle change in his expression.
