A sudden tremor in her heart caused her to slowly lift her eyes, blurred with tears, to look at him. "What is it?"
Leopold leaned over, one hand on the back of the couch, the other on the armrest, effectively entrapping her. He said coldly, "Write a confession. Admit that you've abandoned your husband and child, that you've been unfaithful, and that you want a divorce to marry another man. I'll ensure this confession is laid bare before every Stirling family member.. Every day, Kane will read it. Your grandchildren and great-grandchildren will also read it."
Aurelia felt as if a thunderbolt had just struck her. She was stunned, dizzy, and cold to the bone.
This was an attack straight to her heart!
Instinctively, she clutched the couch cushion and scooted back.
Suddenly, she realized a horrifying truth. He had been waiting until the baby's christening, not because he wasn't eager to divorce, but because he needed a good reason to uphold his perfect image and reputation. He wanted to pin all the blame on her, making her the scapegoat while he remained the model husband and loving father.
When their child grew up, he wouldn't blame his father, but only hate her, his mother who abandoned her family!
As a successful businessman, he was cunning and deceitful! He must have thought she was desperate to divorce, and would agree to anything!
With all her might, she pushed him away and jumped up from the couch, retorting, "Don't push me too far! If you make me angry, I won't divorce you. That'll really annoy you."
He wanted her to take the fall? No way! She would make him understand the consequences of shooting himself in the foot!
A fleeting smirk flashed across Leopold's eyes. He asked nonchalantly, "Who do you think will become impatient first?"
"Definitely you!" she snorted. Without a divorce, he couldn't get engaged to Evelyn. She wondered who would be the one crying then?
