The CEO's Unplanned Heir novel Chapter 287

Belinda shot her a vexed look, "You are so petty, holding onto such grudges. We are all family here, there shouldn't be any ill will held overnight. Our Hawthorne family is already thin in numbers. Ritchie is Zack's only nephew. If something happens to him, do you think you can face our ancestors?"

Jolin scoffed, "He's 30 years old and still living off others. On top of that, he's in debt because of his reckless spending. You've spoiled him rotten. Can you face our ancestors?"

Belinda was so furious she could barely breathe, she leaned back on the couch, clutching her chest. Perla was equally enraged. Her son was her everything, and she would do anything for him. No one could speak ill of him.

"Don't think just because your daughter married into wealth, you are superior. Since you can't even spare a few hundred thousand to help your own family, the marriage is wasted."

Aurelia took a sip of her water, calmly stating, "Perla, you're not my family. When Avery was sick, you were the one who wanted to cut ties with us, afraid of being a burden. Have you forgotten your own words?"

Perla's face turned ashen. She never thought the tables would turn so quickly. She thought Avery's family was doomed.

"Avery is doing just fine now, isn't he? He's even in the entertainment industry. You're still holding onto these old grudges. How shameful."

"You have the audacity to do these things, and we can't talk about them? We will remember this forever." Jolin spoke without any hesitation, "It's better that we sever our ties. You can deal with your own mess."

Upon hearing this, Perla threw a tantrum, slapping her thigh and starting to cry, "How can you hold onto grudges like this? We are family, blood is thicker than water. Do you really want to watch Ritchie get killed by his debts?"

Ritchie clenched his fists, gritting his teeth, "If you won't help me pay my debts, then none of you can live peacefully. We can all just die together."

Belinda held onto her son's hand, crying her eyes out, "Zack, please help Ritchie. Your son-in-law is so rich, a few hundred thousand is just pocket change for him. You should talk to him, and he wouldn't refuse to help his father-in-law."

Zack sighed, "I just arrived here and haven't even seen him yet. Plus, he's in Starhaven, who knows when he'll be back."

Belinda said, "Then you should call him. He doesn't need to be here, he can just transfer the money."

Jolin was speechless, "You make it sound so easy. Some people can't earn four hundred thousand in a lifetime. You just open your mouth and he should give you the money? Do you think he's running a charity? And Ritchie is just a distant cousin. Even if it was Avery, Arnold’s own brother–in-law, he might not be able to borrow the money. You're willing to lose face for a wastrel, we're not. Our Aurelia still needs to hold her head high in her in-law's house!"

Belinda collapsed onto the floor, sobbing and hitting her leg, "Oh my, I can't bear it. Jolin, you have a heart of stone. You and your family are living well, and you don't care about us. You're neither willing to sell the ancestral house nor lend us the money. You're truly wicked! What did our Hawthorne family do to deserve a daughter-in-law like you?"

Aurelia walked over, looking down at her coldly, "Grandmother, the floor is cold. Your act is not going to work. We've already negotiated with the moneylenders. They'll calculate the interest at the bank's rate and give Ritchie a month to sell his house and pay off his debt. This is the only thing we can do. If you continue like this, they'll just repossess his house to settle the debt."

Ritchie was fuming, he cursed at Aurelia, "You heartless woman, you're watching me die and doing nothing. I curse you, you'll be dumped soon. Even if you're married into wealth, you'll just be a resentful wife."
