She lifted her gaze, a frigid stare fixed on him, her eyes laced with a trace of hatred. "Why? We’re divorced, so we have nothing to do with each other anymore!"
He towered over her, icy as a marble statue. "If you dare step out of this mansion, don't ever dream of seeing Kane again!"
He spat out his threat word for word, turned, and walked out, leaving orders for his bodyguards to keep a strict eye on her, not allowing her to step out of the mansion.
She slumped onto the bed, a surge of resentment flooding her heart.
Was he worried she'd barge in on his engagement party, ruining his happy day?
A sorrowful smile gradually emerged on her face.
She couldn't care less about whom he was marrying.
All she wanted was to save her child.
Just then, her phone rang.
She glanced at the caller ID - it was Arnold.
Her tear-strained eyes lit up a bit, and she hurriedly answered the call.
"Aurelia, you finally answered. Are you okay?" His gentle voice instantly triggered her tears to spill again.
"I... I'm not okay, Arno. Can you help me...?"
Outside the mansion.
Leopold got into his car, pressing the button to down the window, making it easier to breathe.
Kevin swiveled around from the driver's seat, "Mr. Leopold, are you sure about this?"
Before he could say more, Leopold cut him off, "Drive!"
Kevin sighed, starting the engine.
Leopold looked at the blood-stained divorce papers in his hand, the deep red a painful sight.
His fingers slowly clenched, the divorce papers crumpled into a grotesque ball.
He couldn't let his enemies discover his vulnerability, or he'd be left defenseless.
