A pang of alarm seized his heart, clenching his fist, he fought to maintain his composure.
"I have some business to attend to. Need to leave, Evelyn, can you wrap things up here?"
His words caught Evelyn off guard, but eager to please, she simply nodded, "It's the overseas acquisition deal, right? You go ahead. We're almost done here anyway."
Leopold exited the hotel and hopped into his car, rushing back to his mansion.
"Where's Aurelia? Has anyone found her?"
Ferne shook her head. The bodyguards were still searching, her phone was off, and they couldn't get a location on her.
"After lunch, she complained of a stomach ache. I escorted her to the hospital with Mrs. Hawthorne. She went into the examination room, and Mrs. Hawthorne said she felt unwell, so I helped her to the restroom. When we returned, Aurelia was gone. I checked the hospital's surveillance footage, she vanished after leaving the hospital."
A dreadful realization dawned on Leopold, "Where's Mrs. Hawthorne?"
"She's in the room, watching the baby."
Even before Ferne could finish, Leopold was already rushing up the stairs.
Jolin had just changed the baby's diaper, cradling him and pacing anxiously. She was worried sick about her daughter.
Leopold burst into the room. Seeing her anxious expression, he knew everything.
"Mrs. Hawthorne, where's Aurelia? Where did she go?"
Jolin feigned innocence, "I don't know either, haven't the bodyguards found her yet?"
Leopold gazed at her intensely, "Please tell me where she is. She's alone out there, she could be in danger at any moment!"
The word "danger" brought tears to Jolin's eyes.
"Where else could she be? She went to save her child! You've shown neither concern for the young one nor any desire for her, forcing her to step up and rescue the child herself. Why are you treating Aurelia like this? She's just finished her recovery period and you're already discarding her for another woman. If you don't love her, why did you take her from Arnold? Arnold would never have treated her like this!"
Her words were like bullets, each one striking him with a piercing pain.
