Aurelia and Arnold had just returned to their home in Goldstone.
Chirpy, their pet parrot, flew out of the house to greet them. "You're back, you're back!"
Whenever they returned home, William would stretch out his arm for Chirpy to perch on.
Kane, being a stranger and quite aloof, wouldn't indulge in such affections with a bird.
Chirpy circled around him before flying out into the yard, calling out as if looking for his buddy, "William, William..."
Kane knew the bird saw through him but ignored it. After all, who would care about a bird's opinion?
He walked into the house without a second thought.
Aurelia and Arnold had their minds preoccupied, and they paid no attention to these small things.
Aurelia summoned Chirpy back and put him in his cage.
Once upstairs, she started packing their bags. The housekeepers would stay and look after the mansion.
They didn't know when they would be able to return to this place they truly called home.
She loved this community, where neighbors often gathered for parties and get-togethers, unlike in Elysium, where you could live for a year and not know your neighbors.
She and Arnold took out the bottles of wine they had stored in the house, intending to bid farewell to their good neighbors.
"William, do you want to say goodbye to Janet, Tommy, and Aron?" they were his best friends.
Kane shook his head, "No need, we will be back soon."
Aurelia wanted to say something but swallowed her words. She sent him to his room and then went out with Arnold, each carrying a bottle of wine.
Once they left, Kane wandered around the house alone.
Chirpy pecked at the cage, repeating, "Liar, liar, scoundrel, scoundrel!"
Kane walked over to the cage, looking at Chirpy sternly, "I am not a liar, I am William 's brother!"
