Leopold took a look and was instantly livid.
He relayed the afternoon’s events to her in simple terms.
“Darling, I swear I am faithful to you.”
Aurelia looked at the picture and it did seem like Megan was the instigator. If there were other intimate actions, there's no way they wouldn't have snapped a photo.
She couldn't fall for their plot and quarrel with Leopold.
“This time, I'll choose to believe you. But don't betray my trust.”
“You can always trust me.”
Leopold pulled her into his embrace and passionately kissed her lips.
The next day, Aurelia entered the office feeling light-headed and shivering with cold.
She stood up, intending to get a cup of hot tea, and then everything went black. She passed out.
Her coworkers immediately called an ambulance, which took her to the hospital.
By the time Leopold rushed to the hospital, she had just been brought out of the emergency room, still unconscious.
Blood tests showed that she had a bacterial infection, but even with antibiotics, her condition did not improve and she was getting weaker.
Leopold was frantic. How could she suddenly fall ill when she was fine the day before?
He called in the best internal medicine specialists in the country for a consultation.
The experts took the blood samples to a biological laboratory and found that she was infected with a rare, unknown superbug, resistant to all known antibiotics.
“This superbug isn't local. It's unlikely Mrs. Stirling got infected naturally.”
On hearing it, a sharp pain shot through Leopold’s heart. It was clear that Aurelia had been stabbed in the back.
He immediately mobilized his resources to assist the police in investigating all the places she had been yesterday.
Through the restaurant's surveillance system, the police found some leads.
According to the restaurant owner, the man in the footage wasn’t their staff but an impostor.
