The words struck a nerve in Aurelia, each one echoed the undeniable truth.
In her mind, Leopold didn't care for her. It was clear that he was always dismissive. If it hadn't been for Arnold stepping in to challenge him, he would never have seen the good in her.
As for Megan, he must have loved her once. The first love always had a special place in a man's heart.
When she fell ill, he must have been unable to resist the pull of their past, reigniting his old flame for Megan. So he wanted a divorce, to marry Megan.
He probably later discovered some dark secrets about Megan and regretted his decision, and thought of returning to Aurelia.
Megan would not agree to divorce, so he might have been digging up Megan's dirty laundry in secret, hence the six-month time frame.
When the time came and the evidence was irrefutable, she wouldn't be able to refuse a divorce.
The more Aurelia thought about it, the more logical her speculation seemed. As for Leopold's words, she took them with a pinch of salt.
After all, he was the proverbial silver-tongued devil, and she was nothing more than a pawn in his game. Her modest intelligence was no match for his cunning; she was destined to be outmaneuvered.
"Women live for themselves, not for men. I prefer to spend my time and energy on my career, rather than on love and relationships. The stakes are too small," she said, leaving with Jelena and Leah.
Leah gave her a thumbs up, "You go, Aurelia! You're the epitome of an independent woman, not like those so-called trust fund babies who have nothing better to do than chase after men. They're so petty, thinking they're all that. It's embarrassing." She raised her voice intentionally, leaving Melissa and Megan fuming.
After shopping, Aurelia and Jelena returned to Blossom Villa, while Leah went to meet her friends.
Leah headed to a secluded villa on the outskirts of town.
This was actually a secret base, equipped with state-of-the-art computer equipment.
"Boss, you’re here," a blond named Abe greeted her with a grin.
