Leopold's deep eyes sparkled ominously in the dim light, giving off an air of piercing intensity and profundity.
"I've had my people investigate in secret, Tanya only had one son, not twins."
"Medical records can be altered, you know. All it takes is bribing the attending doctor and nurse, claiming she only had one child, and then secretly spiriting the other one away. When I gave birth, wasn't I told my baby had died prematurely, only for them to sneak the baby away?"
With a swift flick to her forehead, Leopold retorted, "Do you think my people are so foolish to only check medical records?"
"Even the wisest can make mistakes."
She pouted, thought for a moment, and then whispered, "If Skyler truly doesn’t have a twin brother, could it be that Tanya secretly adopted a child? I once read a novel where the protagonist was instilled with the idea of vengeance since childhood, living his entire life for the sole purpose of exacting revenge for his father. Only to later discover that he wasn’t the biological son, merely a stand-in for the real one."
Switching gears, she added, "But Skyler said Geoffrey looked exactly like him. If it was an adoption, they couldn't possibly look identical."
She seemed to be talking more to herself than anyone else.
Leopold rubbed his temples and worried.
He had to admire her unique line of thinking.
But her considerations were not without merit.
If there was an issue, it needed to be investigated.
"I'll have my people look into it more thoroughly. You, on the other hand, should stay out of it."
"OK." Aurelia crinkled her nose.
Deep down, she sincerely hoped Skyler had no ties to AK Group, wishing him to be nothing more than an innocent, naive kid.
Seeing it was getting late, she got up to leave, only to be stopped by his firm grip around her slender waist.
"Stay with me a little longer."
Hearing his words, Aurelia thought, “Stay for what? Was he wanting to have a sex?”
