Megan felt scared, her knees trembling, as Aurelia's words hit her sore spot.
She knew about Liam. Originally twins, one had been stolen, met a tragic end, and burnt into nothing more than ashes.
The thought that her child might face the same fate sent chills down Megan's spine.
She was relying on this child to secure her position as the matriarch of the Stirling family, to watch him inherit the family business, and to become the head of the Stirling family.
She took a deep breath, striving to remain calm.
"Leopold doesn't love you, so your child is not important to him. That's why he didn't protect you. But my child is different, and he is Leopold's heart's delight. I believe Leopold will protect him." With that, she headed towards Leopold's office.
Leopold was leaning against his chair when a crack in the office door allowed him to overhear Aurelia's words.
Megan walked in and sat on the couch.
"Leopold, I've been feeling uneasy lately. I'm worried that people from the AK Group will harm our child."
Leopold's slender fingers tapped lightly on the desk, his expression grave, "So far, I have found no useful clues about the AK Group. It's easy to dodge a bullet, but hard to avoid a hidden dagger. When Aurelia was pregnant, I had people protect her all the time, but our enemies still found a loophole. You'd better find out the purpose of the AK Group placing you by my side, and what their plans are in the future. This way, we can prepare and protect you and the child, otherwise it will be hard to defend against."
Megan felt as if she'd been kicked into an ice hole, her body shivering.
"If I could replace Kerry, I would know more secrets."
Leopold's eyes flashed a sharp light. He knew Megan had many secrets she hadn't revealed to him. Having spent six years in Verdecalma, she must know something about the AK Group's lair.
