In the morning, Leopold summoned Aurelia to his office.
Word had come in from the police that the recent assassination attempt was the brainchild of Kerry and Zachary, not the orders of their boss.
Aurelia stirred her coffee, "No wonder they've always been so sneaky, but this time they've made such a grand entrance, shaking the whole of Elysium."
"Kerry has been diagnosed with a terminal illness, and this is essentially a disguised suicide mission," Leopold stated gravely.
Aurelia scoffed, "I guess the AK Group isn't as harmonious as it seems. It's not just us that Kerry wants to eliminate, but also the opposition within the AK Group itself, right?"
This thought coincided with Leopold's.
She had implicated many people, most likely those who opposed her, wanting to drag them down with her even in death.
"As long as their leader is not captured, these overseas organizations can easily rise from the ashes."
Aurelia gave him a sideways glance, "I bet Kerry has implicated Megan too, so did you spare her?"
Hearing her question, Leopold's gaze deepened. The last vial of antibiotics was still in Megan's possession. Until the research institute could cultivate the bacteriophages, Megan must remain untouched.
"I have my reasons for what I do." He replied.
Aurelia rolled her eyes, feeling a little jealous inside. He still had feelings for his old flame, so he couldn't hurt her.
Perhaps the child in Megan's womb was his. Because it would be strange if he hadn't shared a bed with Megan in her mind. She wanted to see how he would cover up the lie once Megan’s baby was born.
"If you don't need anything else, I'll be leaving, Mr. Leopold." She was in a bad mood, and the conversation had been ruined. Without waiting for his response, she walked out.
Men were all damn pigs, she thought.
