"There's a chance," Aurelia nodded, her voice low and contemplative. "This guy's a ghost, a real enigma. Other than what Skyler's told us, we don't know squat about him. For all we know, he could already be in Elysium, lurking in the shadows."
Leah's face paled, a look of terror etching across her features. "Could he be a danger to Skyler? What if he's planning to off him secretly to take his place for good?"
"If he wanted to pull a switcheroo, he'd have done it long ago," Aurelia reasoned. "No matter how good an act someone puts on, he’s bound to slip up. Probably, that's why he hasn't tried to step into your brother's shoes."
"But, what if he's put some hex on Skyler to control him?"
"That's a possibility we can't ignore. We'll need to beef up security and be sure no strangers can get close to him. If you notice him acting odd, you gotta tell your dad, pronto," Aurelia advised firmly.
Leah nodded, her resolve clear. She'd have a word with her dad on the side, keep his guard up.
...
The following day at the office, Aurelia popped into Leopold's workspace. Her cappuccino that morning bore a foamy question mark.
Leopold glanced at it, his lips curling into a charming half-smile. "Got something on your mind to ask me?"
"Just mulling over a few things," Aurelia shrugged. "Do you reckon, with Kerry behind bars, AK Group will send someone new our way?"
"They might, but don’t know when and whom," Leopold mused, his thoughts seemingly elsewhere.
No word was yet from Megan's end.
For now, the Twilight Club was run by a secondary shareholder, with no new boss.
"The cops are on high alert," Aurelia pointed out. "Those people won't dare show their faces. For all we know, they could be here in Elysium, tailing Skyler in the shadows."
Leopold's fingers drummed on the desktop. "You think the AK Group had its fingerprints on the bridge incident yesterday?"
