She took a quiet, steadying breath, "I'll seize the opportunity."
No obstacle could stand in her way, she had her eyes on that promotion and nothing was going to stop her.
After a slight pause, she continued, "The successful launch of this new product was made possible due to the hard work of Jenny and Darcy. They've been assistant designers for three years now, don't you think it's time they got a promotion?"
"The department's decisions are yours," Leopold responded in a deep voice.
"Thank you, Mr. Leopold, and don't forget to include them in the bonus distribution."
Aurelia left with a cheery smile on her face.
Leopold watched her leave, the corners of his mouth curling up slightly.
She certainly took care of her subordinates.
But was she getting a bit too full of herself?
...
After the Jewelry Show, everyone had two days off to explore the sights and scenes of Paris. The big boss, however, was busy flying to other European branches for inspections.
Returning to Elysium only happened five days later.
Emily, the Personnel Department director, quietly sent a WhatsApp message, "Aurelia, a new manager named Evelyn Alcott will be joining your department tomorrow, taking Kelly's position."
Aurelia, who had been catching a nap to adjust her jet lag, was instantly wide awake at the news.
"An outsider, and so soon!"
"She's returning from abroad, with an impressive resume. She's been a chief designer before and has won several international awards. More importantly, it is rumored..."
"What?"
"It's rumored that she has a close relationship with the CEO, and there's a possibility she could be the new director."
Aurelia felt as if she'd been struck by a bolt of lightning. Damn nepotism!
She suspected that Leopold had arranged this all along. If she hadn't insisted on her promotion, Evelyn would have probably been appointed as the director directly.
She had been quite confident before, but now she felt like she'd been kicked into an ice hole.
With such strong qualifications, wouldn't Evelyn trample her competition?
