"If Leopold decides to replace you and marry someone else, he doesn't need the family council's approval. He can do it all by himself. So, it’s the top priority to secure your position as his lawful wife. Forget about the rest."
"And what good is being his lawful wife if my son isn't the heir?" Megan lamented.
"Are you in love with Leopold, or are you only obsessed with the Stirling family's inheritance?" Melissa challenged her with a question.
Megan wanted both. She wanted Leopold's love and the inheritance.
"Of course, I love Leopold, but Aurelia hates my guts. If her child becomes the heir, she won't spare me or my children."
"Aurelia's been dethroned. What are you worried about? Even if Kane takes over later, you'll still be the matriarch. He can't hurt you," Melissa reassured her.
Megan fell silent.
Her ambition was unchanging. No matter how many sons Leopold had, she'd eliminate them all. Only her son was entitled to live.
The day her son was born would be the fall of the other unfortunate offspring.
After returning to her room, Megan just crashed into bed. Exhausted and sleep-deprived from the night before, she needed the rest.
Meanwhile, Aurelia got up to bath and was startled to find something amiss with her body.
Something went wrong during the hot sex. The condom had broken.
She almost wished for death until she calculated the dates and breathed a sigh of relief. She was on a safe period. She couldn't be bothered to inform the culprit waiting outside.
Coming out of the bathroom, the man pulled her into his embrace.
"Honey, let's go sailing later and have some fun on the water tonight."
She choked on the suggestion, her face pale. Was this guy some indefatigable love warrior?
He wanted her by day and again by night?
"Megan's been sticking to you and watching you like a hawk. Aren't you nervous about sneaking around with your ex-wife under her watchful eyes?"
