Aurelia chuckled with the ease of a summer breeze. "I've divorced the guy, and why should I care? Besides, it's not like he's ever been a one-woman man. Him seeing Katie? I knew about it ages ago. Katie is gentle, adorable, and not clingy at all. It's no surprise she's his new flavor of the month. No man wants a woman who sticks like glue, is needy as a puppy, and is impossible to shake off. It's terrifying."
Megan's face flashed with anger. "As his lawful wife, it's my right to shield my husband from those home-wrecking vixens."
William snorted with laughter. "Oh, as a mistress, you’re worrying about the next one? That's hilarious."
Megan shot him a malicious look. "Children should not interrupt adults. Have you forgotten your manners, William?"
She was at her wit's end with this little brat, wishing she could clip his tongue.
William made a face at her. "I don't want to deal with you, you old hag. Stop picking fights with my mom. Better yet, vanish and stop ruining our breakfast."
"Yeah, scram," Skyler chimed in, siding with William.
Arnold had long realized Megan was stirring trouble. If she thought it would rattle Aurelia, she was damn wrong.
Aurelia had the wisdom, composure, and cool-headedness that were rare in women.
"Megan, you're only making a fool of yourself here. Better leave while you can."
It made Megan boil with rage.
She despised Aurelia's indifferent demeanor. She wanted to see her furious, unhinged, and weeping, but Aurelia wasn't playing into her hands.
She had seen through Megan's petty schemes from a mile away. Why would she fall into the trap?
And those photos were faked.
Leopold had been all over her the night before. He was so horny that as if he had held it for ages.
"When I was with Mr. Leopold, I always encouraged him to spread his love. I didn't mind him sleeping around as long as those ladies knew their place and respected me as the queen bee. Ambitious women, aiming for the throne and having Leopold to themselves, would only become targets. Not only the other ladies would despise them, but Mr. Leopold would grow weary of them, too. After all, men appreciate women with a big heart."
Megan seethed with every word from Aurelia, which felt like invisible slaps across her face.
