Megan was on the brink of losing her mind, having shot herself in the foot in a spectacular fashion. It was like she had thrown a rock up only to have it come crashing down on her own head.
She had never imagined that Aurelia could be so sinister as to concoct a poison more terrifying than a superbug, leaving her in absolute agony, wishing for death over the pain she endured.
Megan was sure Aurelia had been brewing this toxic concoction for a while, just waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
And the incident involving the little brat, Kane, had served as the golden opportunity Aurelia had been waiting for.
This way, Leopold wouldn't blame Aurelia, and in fact, he'd probably rally to her side.
Megan realized she had been complacent, overconfident, and had greatly underestimated Aurelia.
"Next time I deal with Aurelia and Kane, I'll have to come up with a foolproof plan."
Jewel pursed her lips, "Maybe focus on getting that poison out of your system first. If she dies, you and the baby in your belly will die, too."
Gently touching her swollen belly, Megan was tormented by uncertainty. The doctors couldn't confirm if her baby would be affected.
If anything happened to her baby, she vowed that Kane would pay dearly.
That evening, at the gates of Blossom Villa, Leopold arrived.
Aurelia hesitated before deciding to meet him. She got into the car, knowing she needed to discuss Tanya's recent visit.
"Tanya came looking for Skyler today," Aurelia began, "She suspects Skyler concocted the poison and wants him to give Megan the antidote. It seems Megan is her spy, and I bet she'll play the peacemaker to try and mend your marriage."
Leopold stroked his chin thoughtfully, replying, "If she's seeking out Skyler, it means Geoffrey can't produce the antidote, or maybe he's been incapacitated all this while."
Aurelia agreed, "Skyler said the formula was his own twist. If Geoffrey doesn't know the exact recipe, he won't be able to replicate the cure. Tanya will do anything to get the antidote from Skyler. We should instruct the bodyguards not to let her in when we're not around, especially not alone with Skyler."
Leopold nodded slightly.
"Don't worry too much. Skyler isn't a fool, and he can handle himself."
Despite Leopold's reassurance, Aurelia couldn't shake her concern. She resolved to spend more time with Skyler to prevent him from succumbing to Tanya's threats or bribes and giving up the antidote.
