Skyler furrowed his brow, "Why would they hang out with that jerk?"
"Birds of a feather flock together. They are all troublemakers, hence they stick within their kind. And we're on the right side of the line, so we band together," William explained with deadpan seriousness.
Skyler couldn't hide his disappointment in Tanya and Geoffrey for associating with Megan, the ultimate bad seed. It seemed they were fated to be on opposing sides.
Because Megan was enemy number one to Aurelia, and her enemies were his enemies.
Anyone who helped Megan was also his enemy.
As they spoke, a man approached from a distance, his hands clutching a cage shrouded in black fabric.
His steps were stiff and robotic, his eyes staring blankly ahead, devoid of any spirit.
The bodyguards sensed something was off. As the man drew near, one of them intercepted him, "What do you think you're doing?"
The man remained silent, suddenly ripping off the cloth to reveal a beehive inside the cage.
The bodyguards reacted with shock, immediately trying to snatch the cage from him, while the others shielded Skyler and William, ushering them to retreat swiftly.
Releasing his grip, the man let the cage hit the ground, and the venomous bees swarmed out, stinging anyone in sight.
Chaos erupted in the plaza as people screamed and scattered in all directions.
The bodyguards got Skyler and William into the car, while the two who had grappled for the cage suffered stings.
Many were injured in the plaza, including the elderly, children, and a pregnant woman.
The man who released the bees stumbled away in a daze and was sent flying by a truck as he staggered across the road.
William and Skyler were terrified, clinging tightly to each other.
"William, don't be scared, and I'll protect you."
"Skyler, I'll protect you too."
Once the injured colleagues were in the car, the bodyguards drove off hastily, anxious to keep the bees from entering through any crevices.
