Leopold gave a nonchalant shrug, "Fredric is the eldest, so it's only fair he plays the right-hand man."
Aurelia quipped, "If we're talking about the true firstborn, shouldn't that be Skyler?"
"So what?" Leopold's brows arched teasingly, "You planning on backing Skyler for the role?"
A mischievous twinkle lit Aurelia's eyes as she blinked, "Skyler couldn't care less about that spot. But the people behind him are chomping at the bit. Aren't you just waiting for them to make their move?"
Leopold reached out and affectionately ruffled her hair, "That's my girl."
"If I'm not mistaken," Aurelia continued, "Tanya already tipped off Hanson. Right now, he's probably mid-flight to Elysium. She's been biding her time for years. Once Skyler returns to the Stirling family, becoming the right-hand man, she'll have Geoffrey take his place and make Skyler vanish into thin air."
A cold glint flashed in Leopold's eyes.
Jessica had considered divorcing Chad to escape the marital graveyard, but each time, she was sweet-talked into staying by the Heninger family's smooth operators.
The Heninger family and the Stirling family always put family stakes first.
Individual happiness was trivial compared to family stakes.
As heir to the Heninger family, Hanson's marriage was a political chess move too. Forced to leave the woman he loved, he wed a European heiress he didn't love.
The Heninger bloodline was paramount, and they'd never allow an outsider to become the head of the Stirling family.
Tanya had played her cards right, knowing she could act with impunity.
For those who threatened the family's interests, the Heninger clan showed no mercy.
Magnolia's accident had been their doing, disfiguring her and driving her into hiding.
As Leopold brooded, Aurelia spoke up again, "I'm worried Tanya will convince Hanson to bring Skyler back to Elysium. We can't let them take him. If he goes back to Eastwood Heights, he might just disappear."
Leopold tapped his long fingers on the table, a plan forming, "Don't worry. I've got it covered."
