Hanson fell into a brooding silence, and after what felt like an eternity, his voice emerged deep and resolute, "I have to find out who's threatening Skyler, no matter who it is. Until then, Skyler won't return to the Stirling family. It's safer for him to stay as a Heninger."
Tanya's complexion shifted between pale and flushed, but she struggled to maintain her composure, "That's probably for the best. I want to know who's pulling strings behind the scenes too."
After breakfast, Arnold drove William over to Skyler's townhouse.
"Skyler, I brought you a chocolate cake, baked by my dad himself. It's super delish."
Skyler licked his lips and couldn't wait to dig in. "Yes, that's the stuff."
Just then, his phone buzzed with a new text message.
[Skyler, have you been searching for me? Haven't seen me around for a while, do you miss me?]
Skyler furrowed his brows a bit, a spark in his eyes as he retorted, [Cut the charade. Show yourself.]
The reply came swiftly, [Meet me tomorrow night at 9 PM at the Lakeside Gazebo in Sunrise Green Park. Come alone, and don't bring anyone else, or I won't be pleased.]
William caught a glimpse of the message, his eyes widening.
"Skyler, is Geoffrey gonna show? I gotta tell Mom. We'll set up a trap and catch him."
"Right." Skyler nodded.
Aurelia had the day off and immediately relayed the news to Leopold upon receiving William's call.
"Is the person coming really Geoffrey?"
A cold, threatening aura emanated from Leopold, "Whoever it is, we catch first, ask questions later."
Sunrise Green Park was rather secluded, and by 9 PM, it was nearly deserted.
Skyler arrived at the Lakeside Gazebo alone. He looked around, and no one was in sight. He sat on a stone bench and unwrapped a lollipop, popping it into his mouth.
