"You may not know this yet, but Evelyn Alcott was Mr. Leopold's chosen one from the moment he took over Astral Enterprises. His plan was to replace Kelly with her."
He paused, lowering his voice, "In the game of thrones, the king and his court change with the times. The Stirling Group was originally built on a jewelry empire, with Astral Enterprises as its ancestral property. When Chad fell ill, aside from Astral Enterprises, Mr. Leopold seized the opportunity to control other groups under the Stirling banner. Even when his father was still alive, his faithful servants were replaced one by one. Now, with his father gone, it's time for a thorough shake-up at Astral Enterprises."
Aurelia took a quiet breath. No wonder he had been so indulgent and protective of Evelyn.
"So, you're saying, I don't stand a chance competing against Evelyn?"
Elvis shrugged, "Although you're talented and capable, you're not his most trusted person."
His words struck Aurelia like a bullet.
Suddenly, she realized that she was just a pawn in his game.
The reason he arranged for her to participate in the Paris Jewelry Exhibition was not only to confine her but also to push Kelly into a corner, making it easier to eliminate her.
Such a terrifying man, his cunning runs deeper than the ocean, and he's extraordinarily scheming and crafty!
In her silence, Elvis's voice came again, "I sincerely invite you to join Ethereal Gems. We offer you the best environment for development and our marketing team will fully cooperate with you."
Aurelia took a sip of her coffee, "Thank you for your recognition, Mr. Cooper. I always see my commitments through to the end. Regardless, I will complete the design of the new product, even if it's the end, it has to be perfect."
Elvis smiled knowingly, "I'm looking forward to your new work. The door to Ethereal Gems will always be open for you."
Outside the café, a black Rolls-Royce was parked under the shade of a tree.
The man inside had a stern expression, a cold light flashing in his eyes.
The driver, Kevin, glanced at him, "Mr. Leopold, it seems Elvis is inviting Ms. Hawthorne to his company."
He snorted, "A severed branch!"
"Industry insiders aren't optimistic about Ms. Hawthorne's chances against Evelyn. I fear Ms. Hawthorne isn't optimistic either," Kevin reminded him quietly.
