Clayton's words burrowed into Nicole's ears like ants, but she instantly understood what he meant.
He was right.
Just because she abided by the rules did not mean others did too.
Nicole wrinkled her brows and looked to the side, hesitating to speak.
Clayton asked, "What's wrong?”
"Why didn't you say so earlier?"
Nicole grumbled, but Clayton heard her clearly.
He let out a low chuckle but quickly held back.
"Who knew that our Ms. Stanton is so upright?"
Although Clayton did not know much about the entertainment industry in Mediania, he was seasoned after so long in the business world. He knew that when one reached a certain position, some things that could not be tolerated in the eyes of others would just be harmless when done.
Although he disliked it, if doing that could benefit the interests of other aspects, he would do it.
Thus, he was surprised that Nicole did not do anything.
However, after thinking about it, it made sense. If Kai was around, he would have taken care of it for her.
It was understandable that Nicole momentarily neglected it.
Nicole's brows were shrouded in sorrow. Clayton reached out and squeezed her hand, speaking with a smile.
"It's okay. The few minutes you walked down the red carpet with him is enough for him to become the focus of today's event. He already won."
Nicole paused before smiling.
"That’s right. Anyway, since it's become like this, let’s just let nature take its course."
Clayton secretly sighed in relief when he saw her mood turn for the better.
However, his grip on her hand never loosened.
From the side, the two people sitting and laughing together really looked like a couple in love.
