"Brendon!"
Chris hurriedly caught up from behind, "Let's keep looking. It might not be anything serious."
Brendon ran his fingers through his hair, the sharp anxiety almost shattering his heart. "Ranita wouldn't just turn off her phone and ignore even her friends' calls."
"Her phone might be dead. Brendon... try not to worry too much. It hasn't been twenty-four hours since last night; let's keep searching."
"She'll be fine."
Chris' comfort had little effect.
The last time Ranita suddenly went to Moon Mountain Resort, he was annoyed but not as worried as he was now. He had a bad feeling about this.
Someone was looking for Ranita in Kurima.
Ranita didn't know how long she had been sitting there when she finally couldn't resist the exhaustion anymore and dozed off. She was tired, but more than that, she was thirsty!
"Bang!" After who knew how long it had been, the door opened.
Ranita immediately woke up and huddled into the corner of the wall in fear. She couldn't see anything in the darkness which made everything seem scarier; even the sound of footsteps seemed heavier than usual.
"Girl!"
"Ahh!" Ranita screamed as she realized her foot was caught. Terrified, she immediately began to struggle. However, her hands were bound, and after a few attempts, her feet were also restrained.
"Alright, stop yelling and moving around. I'll untie your hands, and you better eat. Then we can hit the road."
This burly man was the one who asked her how much money she could offer yesterday.
After Ranita's eyes adjusted to the light, she revealed a hint of pleading, "Mister, may I ask why you've targeted me? Can't we discuss whatever matter you have in a civilized manner?"
"Heh! Girl, don't try to use that trick on me," the big man shook his head. "If you want to threaten me by saying things like calling police or breaking laws, then I won't talk to you anymore. However, since your attitude is good towards us then I'll chat with you a bit."
