Seth opened the car door for her, and Cicely, with a hint of confusion, stepped out of the car. As she looked at the desolate land in front of her, she asked. "Why here?"
Seth's lips quirked into a half-smile as he leaned against the car, his eyes surveying the land with a sense of ownership. "I bought this place," he said simply.
"Bought it?" Cicely's eyes swept across the vast property, unimpressed.
With a smooth gesture, Seth drew her close, and his arms encircled her waist, pulling her into his embrace. His gaze dropped to meet hers, his breath warm on her cheek.
"Our future home," he murmured, his voice a low rumble that danced in her ears.
Cicely's heart skipped a beat, and she looked up at him, her eyes alight with barely concealed delight. But then, a shadow of pragmatism crossed her face. "And when is this going to happen?"d2
Seth's fingers traced the curve of her delicate waist, tightening imperceptibly. "Two years," he promised, his voice as firm as his grip. "After the wedding, I'll whisk you away from the Ellis clan and bring you here."
Their foreheads nearly touched, his words a gentle caress, as if afraid to startle her. Cicely's eyes sparkled with emotion, struck by the thought:
From the Ellis family to our home.
"Why choose this place? You didn't need to go through all this trouble when my house is right next door."
"Mhm," Seth acknowledged, his eyes lingering on her flushed cheeks. His fingers gently stroked her soft skin. "It's for those times when you might get mad and storm off. It would be quite the workout, and if you go too far, you'd get tired and I'd have to go through a lot of trouble to find you."
Cicely furrowed her brow and pushed him away slightly. "We haven't even started living together and you're already planning for fights and runaway scenarios?"
"Do you honestly think you'll never get mad at me?" Seth raised an eyebrow, a playful smile on his lips. "I can't guarantee I won't ever make you angry."
Cicely was about to declare she wouldn't, but his words gave her pause. "You find me that annoying?"
