Chloe took a day off at home and gave Rose a call, letting her know she'd been discharged from the hospital.
Upon hearing the news, Rose was a bit miffed.
"So, you were hospitalized and I barely visited, then you get discharged and you don't give me a heads up? Are you trying to make me feel guilty?"
"Yep. If you feel guilty, I get a free meal out of it."
Chloe chuckled, suddenly feeling that her life wasn't too shabby after all.
Rose was in her office, surprised to hear Chloe's rare lighthearted tone.
She'd thought that a stubborn person like Chloe would undoubtedly have a period of low spirits.
She'd prepared a lot of comforting words, knowing that some truths might not resonate with Chloe.
Even though everyone understood these truths, when things happened to you, no one can bear the emotions for you.
She'd anticipated Chloe's low spirits, so hearing her tone today was quite a surprise. But, that was a good surprise.
"Is it just about a meal? If you have the ability to eat a restaurant into bankruptcy, I'll join you."
"Pity, I don't have that power yet."
Chloe came out of the bathroom, phone in hand, to see the day had turned completely dark outside.
"When are you planning on quitting your job at Lance's company?"
Rose pondered for a bit before finally asking, "I do hope you come over soon, but I'm not in a rush."
