Yvonne's face went white all of a sudden.
Her face turned pale as she looked at Margot, who looked a little grim and scary in her shocked anger. Her eyes were instantly red. She said in a lightly trembling voice, "Mom, I... I didn't mean to do it. I was just afraid that if you and Dad found your real daughter, you wouldn't like me anymore."
"I want you guys to value me. I don't want you to think I'm useless. I was afraid that you would ask me to leave the Swift family because of Nikita."
As Yvonne spoke, she cried. Her large teardrops fell on her fair and clear face. "I don't want to leave you and Dad. I was so afraid you would not want me anymore. The night you brought Nikita back, I had a dream. I dreamed that you and Dad didn't want me anymore, and then I was sent back to that remote, poor mountain area."
"I begged you not to kick me out of the Swift Family. Please don't send me back. But..." The more she spoke, the sadder she became. Her face was covered with wet tear marks, "Mom, I was really scared. I woke up in a panic. And when I woke up, I was so scared that the dream would become real."
"So, when you asked me if I knew Young Master Lambert and if I could invite him to my birthday party, I lied." Yvonne was crying so hard that her shoulders trembled, "I just wanted you and Dad to think I was useful. Then you wouldn't kick me out."
Margot was furious. But looking at Yvonne crying like this, her heart immediately softened again.
For more than ten years, Yvonne had been living with the Swift family. Yvonne had always been a good girl, not letting her worry.
She lied this time because she cared for them too much and was afraid they would let her leave the Swift family.
Thinking that way, Margot eased her expression a bit.
But when she thought of the party tonight, her expression was still bad, "Even if you were worried and scared, you shouldn't have told a lie like this."
"I know I'm wrong." Yvonne bit her lip and showed a pitiful look. She reached out and gently tugged Margot's arm, crying, "Mom, I'm sorry. I know I'm wrong. I will never lie again."
