She had not been following the news involving Jackson for the past three years, which explained why she had no idea that Jackson was getting married to his mistress, Fiona.
Zachary laughed coldly. "Miller is getting married to the secretary’s beloved daughter. We will have to select our gifts based on how grand the occasion is. Anyhow, we’ll have to give them a magnificent gift!"
"What do you think we should give them, President Miller?"
"What should we give them? How would I know?" Zachary looked over at Yvonne. "You can be in charge of this. Go and pick out a present."
"I... I don't know what to do. Perhaps you should arrange for someone else to do this, President Quimby." There was no way Yvonne wanted to pick out the gifts for that b*stard and b*tch couple. She immediately refused.
"Ever heard of something called on-the-job training?" I t seemed like Zachary's favorite pastime was to torment Yvonne. He had disliked her at first glance. She was a twenty-seven-year-old woman who had no fashion sense, no knowledge of makeup, and did not have a boyfriend.
If it weren't for Yosef, he would have rather died than have a woman like her to be his assistant. On her first day of work, he had reminded her that he did not like women who wore glasses and requested that she wear contact lenses to work instead. Yet, the woman had the guts to defy his order and still wear a pair of hideous and old-fashioned black-framed glasses.
"Fine. Don't blame me for putting aside your connections with Yosef and tormenting you if you won't listen to my instructions." He was overjoyed when he saw the agony on Yvonne's face. "You are fully in charge of this. I'm telling you now, Jackson Miller had better be pleased, or I'll fire you!"
"Yes, sir!" Yvonne sighed to herself as she forced herself to accept the task.
Zachary had a client meeting in the afternoon, and naturally, he brought Yvonne along with him. They would have drinks and entertain the clients once they had finished discussing business deals. Zachary was well-known for his crude behaviors and could afford t o have the club's best girls in with him. The men in the private booth started to loosen up after a few rounds of drinks.
Instinctively, Yvonne would not stay and get in their way. She immediately stood up and said, "President Quimby, I'll wait for you outside!"
"Go on. Remember to not stand too far in case I call for you!" Zachary replied sharply.
"I won't go too far. I’ll be waiting for you at the entrance!" As they watched her walk toward the door with her head down, someone asked Zachary, "Mr. Quimby, why do you hire such an ugly girl as your assistant? Don't you feel disgusted when you look at her?"
