The Indifferent Ex-Husband: Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate novel Chapter 393

Sophia totally missed Brandon hanging around outside the door, but the office crew caught him in the act. Brandon drew everyone’s attention as he abruptly paused in his stride, prompting furtive glances from the crowd.

Brandon coolly scanned the room, and that made the onlookers hastily avert their eyes.

He walked up and knocked on the door.

“Are you done yet?” he asked, his voice low and smooth, just like any other day.

Sophia looked up reflexively, spotting Brandon at the doorway. Glancing at the time on her computer, she said to Ivan, “Let’s wrap up the discussion for today.”

Ivan nodded and shot a look at Brandon, who was calmly returning the gaze.

Their eyes locked in a silent standoff, neither avoiding nor shrinking away.

Brandon recalled there weren’t many who dared to hold his gaze like that.

He hadn’t forgotten that Sophia mentioned last time at the Skyrim City Starry Mall, Ivan was the guy handling the surveillance.

Mr. Evert’s mall, Ivan having the chops to deal with surveillance, and their shared surnames “Evert”—it was pretty clear.

Despite the illustrious family history of Mr. Evert, Ivan had opted to forgo the family business, content to work at Star·Dempsey Architects in a junior position, his intentions clearly more than met the eye.

Brandon couldn’t help but steal a glance at Sophia.

Sophia was tidying up her computer.

Ivan was already packed up and whispered a “I’ll be heading out first” to Sophia before making his exit.

Passing by Brandon, he just gave a calm look without a greeting.

Brandon didn’t bother with him either, just stood there eyeing Sophia.

Sophia quickly got her stuff together.

She shut down her computer, grabbed her bag, stood up, and headed towards Brandon, “Let’s go.”

Brandon nodded, “Sure.”

They left the building together and climbed into the car.

“How about we have dinner out tonight?” Brandon said, buckling his seatbelt and turning to Sophia.

Sophia was a bit surprised but nodded anyway, “Sure.”
