The Indifferent Ex-Husband: Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate novel Chapter 452

Sophia instinctively turned around and saw Brandon pushing the door open, pausing for a moment in surprise.

Daniel also looked up at Brandon, but instead of the hot-headedness of the past, he seemed much calmer this time, showing no signs of guilt or backing down, just staring steadily at Brandon.

Brandon's handsome face was cold and tense, and who knew how long he had been there or how much he had heard.

He walked over to Sophia expressionlessly, bent down to pull her up, and then turned to Daniel.

"This is between her and me; you don't need to butt in." Brandon said, his voice even, "Just focus on getting better."

With that, he took Sophia by the hand and started to leave.

"Hold on." Daniel spoke up, stopping him, "You heard it yourself, she's not into you. Look at what you’ve got and what she’s got. You can have anyone you want, why hang yourself on one tree?"

Brandon's Adam's apple bobbed violently, but when he turned back to face him, he was composed.

He glanced at Patricia, then back at Daniel, "When you married her, what were your prospects, and what were hers? You could have had anyone, why stick with just her all these years?"

Daniel was at a loss for words.

Brandon said no more, taking Sophia and leaving.

It wasn't until the door closed that Daniel finally came to his senses, and couldn't help but shout towards the door, "Are you even comparable to us? Your mom and I got married because we liked each other; you two are just together because of the kid. You only brought her home because your grandpa was sick and wanted to see you settled down, didn't you? And my wife didn't marry me for my family's money."

Brandon abruptly stopped in his tracks and turned around to go back.

Sophia caught him by the hand. Brandon looked back at her. Sophia didn't look up at him.

"He's telling the truth." Sophia said softly, "There's no need to argue with him; his health can't take it."

"And why don't you think about why it's you?" Brandon asked her coldly, "He's not wrong. I could have any woman I want, if it was just to reassure my grandpa, why couldn't I pick anyone else? Is it because you look like Yolanda? Or because you're pregnant? Is the kid that important to me? The world is so big; there are so many people like her, so why you?"

Sophia pressed her lips together, saying nothing.
