The Indifferent Ex-Husband: Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate novel Chapter 473

Marian somehow made it to the end of her shift amidst the chaos and feeling totally frazzled.

When she clocked out, Martin happened to wrap up his work stuff as well and caught sight of her with her bag. He casually threw an invite her way, “Knocking off? I’ll give you a lift on my way out.”

“Huh?” Marian was a bit taken aback by Martin's initiation. Ever since that self-plagiarism incident, he had been giving her the cold shoulder.

She actually wanted to use this chance to patch things up with Martin, but her dad Dennis had flown into West district to see her, and she was bound for the airport to pick him up.

“My dad's come to see me. I’ve gotta head to the airport to fetch him,” Marian explained.

Martin frowned, “Your dad’s in West district? What’s he doing here?”

He hadn't had much to do with Dennis, only knowing that his business was overseas and he rarely came back home.

“He’s just dropping by to check on me.” Marian said, “I haven’t had the chance to visit them since I moved back, and he was just in Skyrim City on a business trip, so he figured he’d swing by.”

Martin nodded, “Alright, you go pick up your dad. When you’ve got time, let’s set up a dinner with him and the family. He’s had his work cut out for him looking after you all these years.”

Marian nodded, catching a glimpse of Sophia stepping out of the office from the corner of her eye. She didn’t want Sophia interacting with Martin, so she quickly clung to his arm and started heading to the elevator, cajoling him, “Martin, how about you drop me off on the way?”

“I don’t have time.”

Martin brushed her off coldly, “If you’re not in a rush, I can have Leo take you.”

He pulled his arm away from her grasp and reached out to press the elevator button, not even glancing back in Sophia’s direction.

But Marian was still on high alert, standing to his right and slightly behind him, and once again, she playfully wrapped her arm around his.

Sophia cast a curious glance at Marian, and then her gaze slowly landed on Martin, who was partially obscured by Marian.

This time, Martin didn’t pull away. He seemed to have a soft spot for Marian. As for this sister who he had taken efforts to find, despite his frustration with her at times, it was clear that Marian’s plagiarism fiasco hadn’t really dented her status as the Frost family’s darling.
