The Indifferent Ex-Husband: Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate novel Chapter 504

"Why didn't you call me?" Brandon asked, his voice was pretty chill.

"I didn't dare to," Kent's voice dropped a notch, "The way you reacted back then."

He trailed off, too scared to finish.

"How so?"

Brandon probed.

"It was like," Kent's voice faltered, then as if he was throwing caution to the wind, "you looked like you were about to burst into tears any second. Who would have the guts to interrupt that?"

Brandon didn't know what to say.

"You might wanna get your eyes checked," Brandon quipped, swiftly changing the subject, "Where's Sophia?"

"She's over at 'Corner Memories,' that DIY shop on the next street," Kent replied.

A crease formed between Brandon's brows. He remembered Sophia coming out of that shop just last night.

"Got it," Brandon said, "Get a move on finding out why Dennis showed up in the West district."

"Will do," Kent responded.

"You go on with your stuff."

Brandon hung up the phone, spun the steering wheel around, and headed for "Corner Memories."

His car soon pulled up outside the DIY shop.

The shop front boasted a huge floor-to-ceiling window that gave a clear view of customers engrossed in their crafts.

There weren't many patrons inside, just a few here and there.

Brandon glanced through the window but didn't spot Sophia.

He frowned slightly, parked the car, got out, and pushed the door open to enter.

"Welcome!"

A pretty salesgirl greeted him with a smile.

Brandon gave her a quick look, his gaze already scanning the interior of the shop. After a sweep, it was clear Sophia wasn't there.
